The California Fast Food Council has the authority to increase the minimum wage for fast food starting January 1.Under a voluntary flexible working hours plan approved by the Alaska Department of Labor, a 10-hour, 40-hour workweek can be instituted with the payment of a premium after 10 hours a day. States plan to increase their minimum wage in early 2025, increasing the salaries of millions of workers from California to Maine. In total, 21 states will increase their wage floors in January. The country's highest wage levels will take effect in some of the nearly 50 cities and other localities that will impose minimum wage increases.
